Addison's: Marathon Metaphor

"It is a paradoxical but profoundly true and important principle of life that the most likely way to reach a goal is to be aiming not at that goal itself but at some more ambitious goal beyond it."
- Arnold Toynbee
We've all got things we want to do with our lives. Because of Addison's disease, many of us are not able to do things that we want to do as fast or as often or as consistently as we'd like to. Addison's can definitely slow us down. I enjoy doing many things and as an Addisonian, I'm known for doing things that are out of the ordinary. We all do things that are out of the ordinary and want to do amazing things. I want to do endurance exercise. You've got your own "marathon". The only way to achieve our final goal is announce your intentions, research and set your goals.

What's your "marathon"? Writing a book? Getting back to normal health? Touring the world? Reading a book series? Helping others? Losing weight? Decreasing your hydrocortisone?

From here on out, please see my running as a metaphor for the things you want to achieve in life. I hope you can get inspiration from the things I do and see and share with you. Addison's makes doing what we do more of a challenge but never see it as a deterrent from your goals and dreams.

Spring in Idaho

This is what spring in Idaho looks like. Flowers are definitely a couple of months off!

Training: Road to the ski hill...again

I hope these pictures are interesting. They're taken from the same road I've been running over and over.

I don't think you can see the ski tracks on this but they're there!

It's still winter here. This road sign is still very buried.

A view into the Cold Springs turn out. I fell down while I was filming this. See below. Holy Crap, I just watched this video with the sound on and I sound like a total pervert. I can promise I just ran up hill for 4 miles!!

Marks where I fell down, luckily, no one saw me flailing in the snow.

Same view, summer.

Training: Scenery in Pole Canyon and on the way

I walked and ran to Pole Canyon carrying my snowshoes and poles and stuff on Saturday. It was a nice hike/run. The weather varied from hot and sunny to overcast to snowing.

Here's the Pole Canyon Road. To the right in the picture you can see the sign saying "Pole Canyon", to the left you can see all of the electrical poles. This view is looking south.

I don't know what it is about this sign but I really like it. It says "Center Stock Driveway", the "Stock" part is shot out.

A huge tree covered with snow.

This is looking to the north on Pole Canyon Road. Where the road ends, I turn left to get to my house. Look at all those gigantic trucks! They all had snowmobilers in them. I think every single snowmobiler passed me on the trail. PeeeeUuuuuuu!

A sign of spring in Idaho. A snowmobile track on the shoulder of the road, not on the road. There's mud and dirt on the side of the road too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A stiff, dead, bloated cow (center, Holstein) surrounded all day by her friends.

What is this, you ask. It's a guy that's trying to kill his kids. He's pulling them behind his truck in buckets of some sort. The girl was hooked up with baling twine that was knotted together!

Video of the guy who hates his kids.
