End of August Update/Long

t's been a ridiculously crazy summer. I think this week is the end of it though and life will slow down.

Last I posted I had cow crap in my ear, no worries, I got it out. Since then, Zane's started Teton High School and was a hero earlier this week. If you're interested, click here.

I did 24 Hours of Targhee, a 24 hour mountain bike race. I sucked. I couldn't stay awake past 9 pm and slept until about 6 am. So, technically, I was at Targhee for 24 hours but raced for 14 hours. I came in 4th out of 4 women with 11 laps. I didn't fall off my bike and I'm terribly proud of that. Only my back and triceps were sore on Monday and Tuesday. I did discover that staying up all night is not a strength of mine! I think 100 mile running races might be out of the question for that very reason.

This is the start of the bike race. I'm the one skipping to my bike. Everyone was so damned serious! Not me.

A big guy who didn't pass me for 7.15 miles had to bust his ass to pass me in the pit in front of everyone. I hope he felt cool. He probably only did 6 laps in 24 hours too.

My best parade wave while finishing up my last lap. Don't I look fresh?! A full night of sleep will do that for you.

I'm still volunteering at Teton Middle School library. Kim is awesome at decorating bulletin boards and getting cute accessories. If you look hard at this flattering picture, you'll see I'm wearing star dinglebobbers. It was fun being part of opening day at the TMS library.

Lisa Batchen's Dreamcatchers went up Fred's for a Wednesday run. Sister Mary Beth Lloyd came with us. She's doing the trail marathon on Sunday and she'll be dressed in her habit! Sister Mary Beth has raised tremendous amounts of money for AIDS orphans and is an inspiration! Click here for more information about Sister Mary Beth.
From Left to right & distances everyone will be racing: Colleen (26.2 m), Anthony (100 m), Lori (superstar volunteer), Dave (snowmobile maniac), Allison (Dancer and Super Fan), Meredith (100 m), Teresa (26.2), Sister Mary Beth (26.2 m), Stevie (26.2)

Sister Mary Beth and Teresa head back to the Lodge at Targhee. A running nun is not something you see every day!

Gabby (Lisa and Jay's daughter) and I (white hat) filling up goody bags for the race. Lori was smiling all night because she's not doing the race and she's really happy about it. She was the 1st place woman last year in the 100 mile race.

Well, Jay Batchen was very, very nice and let me decide if I was going to do the race at the last minute. I decided to do the 50 miler. I hope I can finish. I will be doing it with my friend Lora from Chicago. The 50 miler starts on Saturday morning. Yes, this Saturday.
