Mid October update

That's right folks! 15 degrees Fahrenheit on October 10th, 2008. We've got a winter storm watch in effect for tonight. Come visit!!

My strange breakdown last week was probably a hormonal issue. It was over on Sunday night. I need to get some hormones tested.

It's been a ridiculously busy week, I keep thinking it will slow down and it doesn't. Slowly but surely I'm getting caught up on one thing at a time.

I've gone to the gym four days this week so my weight lifting is right on track. The running, not so much. I think when the soreness from the lifting subsides, I will be more consistent about running.

If you've got any suggestions for good, fun ultrarunning races in warm places between November and May, email me and let me know. contact@addisonssupport.com I've got to get out of here and go somewhere warm.

Below are pictures from the week...

Here's the first block from Shelley's quilt that she's making for NORD. See anything you've donated? Haven't donated yet??? You still can, click the link above for more information.

Milissa creating the budget for the See N Save thrift store. This fiscal year the See N Save will have its best year ever. All profits benefit Teton Valley Health Care, our local hospital. I help Milissa with the budget for the store.

The mountain to the left is Fred's. If you ran the Grand Teton Races, that's the highest point of the race. If you ski, that's where the lift drops you off.

The appropriately named Aspen Trail.

I was bizarrely captivated by this grove of evergreens that had aspen leaves lodged into them. Below is a close up. I don't know why I thought this was so interesting.

OK, so, I run by myself a lot AND I'm a freak. This summer (now fall) I got tired of all of the posed pictures I took of myself so I started taking pictures of myself jumping. I think this is the very best of my jumping pictures. I've taken pictures at this trail head everytime I've been there during 2008. Expect a slide show at the end of 2008.

Time

Time is that quality of nature which keeps events from happening all at once. Lately it doesn't seem to be working.

Idaho pictures

After over a decade of living here, I'm still surprised to see cattle drives going down the main highway's frontage road. I'm also surprised to see a horse pulled up at the front door of the grocery store with it's rider chatting away like there's nothing odd going on. My whining rant (totally unrelated to cows and horses) at the end of the pictures.

Another view from the highway.

My whine: I think I'm a little depressed and badly in need of some goal setting an lots of running and riding. I've really slacked off in the exercise department because I have no goals at all. Not exercising makes me really tired and cranky but it's sure nice to have a break from being sweaty all the time. The migraines last week definitely have an impact on my mental state. They make me lethargic and depressed. Mostly I'm really going to miss Allison's companionship. I hate the thought of winter setting in and me being stuck in Teton Valley for the next 6 months all alone. It's a nice place and all but 6 months is a long time to be stuck somewhere. In addition, my son and husband don't seem to be getting along which makes things tough for me. Zane's being a challenge in his own right. My mom and her husband don't want us at her house for Thanksgiving unless we ditch the dog somewhere. We called around to kennels in the area and they're all BOOKED 3 MONTHS IN ADVANCE! So we've got a 20 pound, hypoallergenic, nonshedding dog that's well behaved and we're not alowed to visit because of her. She even sleeps locked in a kennel for 9 hours out of the day.

Calgon, take me away. I could use a vacation where I don't have to cook, clean or be responsible! Actually, that's a lot to ask and besides, I had one of those 4 years ago. Right now I'd like one good friend and a family that's nice to me.
