This winter will be different. I will be training for Barkley, whether I get in or not. I will get my personal training certification and find a client or not. I'll volunteer at the middle school library. I am so happy with my ranch caretaking jobs and will continue to do them to the best of my abilities. Most importantly, I will be starting on the path toward legitimately getting into the medical field so that I can make a difference in the lives of diagnosed and undiagnosed Addisonian's. I would like to become an endocrinologist but would be happy becoming a Physician's assistant or Nurse Practitioner. This path will take some time to research and make decisions. Perhaps the decisions will be made for me because I might be too old to go to medical school. We will be moving out of Idaho in 2012 when my son graduates from high school. The climate of the potential place and the proximity to a good school will determine where we move. I'm looking forward to getting out of this ice box!
I don't think that there is a moratorium on age to be in medical school. Granted, it is rare for people our age to go to medical school, but it has been done before! If this is your calling, tenaciously pursue your dream. I am behind you 100%. I believe in you, my friend!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about the job, but I like your outlook!
I am feeling really good now that I have increased my cortisol. My blood sugars are stable. I cut back to 1.5 tables of FC. I will cut down to 1 when the weather becomes milder and I am not doing two marathons in less than three weeks--laugh.
Linda, I'm so glad you are feeling better! Now if you'd just start on the DHEA... :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your marathons!!!
I'm not sorry about the job so don't worry about that. It was 10 - 20 hours a month of a ton of stress.
:) Dusty
Dusty,
ReplyDeleteI think it's really interesting that you want to become an endocrinologist. I've thought about that off and on for the last 10 years (even before I was diagnosed). I think being a professor is my calling (only 3 more years!) But, sometimes I still think about medical school....
hope you're feeling well!
