Blog changes

Thanks to everyone who followed Training Because I Can! over the last nine years. This blog started with Addison's Disease, hypothyroidism and a crazy idea of doing an Ironman distance triathlon. My life has changed and so has this blog. I am using this blog strictly for Addison's Support topics from here on out. I hope to continue providing people with hints for living life well with adrenal insufficiency.

Sandhill crane migration

The video is not that great but you get an idea of what the sandhill cranes look like before they migrate. There were only 50 or so in this shot. Once I was fortunate enough to see several hundred swirling in the sky.

Long time, no post

Fall in Teton Valley

It's been a busy month or so. The Grand Teton Races in early September, trip to NJ, The Bear 100 and a conference for the Idaho Hospital Association in Sun Valley. Now I'm resting! The only boring text I'm going to put here is about my race recovery and no migraine. Skip it if you want. GOOD NEWS!! NO MIGRAINE THIS MONTH!

Bear 100 Race Recovery: Race recovery was easy. Within 48 hours, I was barely sore at all. This was due to a few factors, enough HC during and post race, proper consistent training and a very slow pace during the race and I hydrated a lot after the race. Race meds: 5 - 10 mg HC/hour during the race and 15 mg HC before throwing up during the race and 20 mg of HC after throwing up. POSTRACE MEDS: Sunday 50 mg, Monday 50 mg, Tuesday 40 or 45 mg, Wednesday 35 mg, Thursday 25 mg which is my normal dosing.

No migraine: Didn't get one!!!! A week before the usual migraine date, I started snoring big time. As an experiment, I doubled the melatonin I was taking from 3 g to 6 g. The snoring stopped and, for right now, I'm choosing to believe that this is the reason I did not get a migraine this month! Yahoo!!! I also added gluten back into my diet so that I can get valid blood work determining if I am celiac or not. This did not cause any migraines!

Dolly wearing her "Don't shoot me, I'm not an elk or deer" outfit. Joanne insisted both Dolly and I wear hot pink flagging to keep the nutty hunters from shooting at us.

Joanne took this picture and she missed the dog jumping but look at Dolly on the left! Picture is cropped below.

Besides her lack of gracefulness, it looks like she's wearing a hot pink thong!

Cisco and baby horse (I call her Daisy) they are full brother and sister. Mama is the white horse in the background.

Downtown Sun Valley in the wee hours of the morning. I was hunting for coffee!

I am pathetically juvenile, this sign made me laugh.
