Winter is over, Mud Season has begun

Mud Season looks like this

Happy Mother's Day to those of you who are moms!  I hope you all had a great day no matter how you celebrated.

Mud Season is when you go out of the house clean and come home trailing mud everywhere.  You have to stand at the washing machine and strip down or you're forced to remove your clothes in the garage if you're really muddy.

I am hoping that the trails opening up will boost my spirits.  It's nice to be warm when running and I love the sunshine.

Paul and I are running a race in 2 weeks.  It's the Pocatello 50.  It's going to be super challenging (50 miles and 13, 700 of vertical elevation gain) and I hope like hell I can finish.  That kidney infection really put a crimp in the number of miles I've been able to put in.  Muscle memory and positive thinking will play a big role in my performance.

Below are pictures from this weekend.

This bottom jaw was HUGE!  Elk or moose jaw?

Anyone got a gun?  Target practice!

Snow/rain blowing into Victor.  View from Mud Lake Road

Lots of snow on Aspen Trail

Lots of trees down on Aspen Trail

Gor-Tex Asic Gel Trabucos and Drymax socks, a great combination on muddy and snowy trails!

  1. Good luck with the race! I guess at this time of year you just have to become one with the mud!

  2. Maybe the giant jawbone was from a dinosaur?? hee hee. We've had such horrible wind for over a week now. I watch as parts of my roof fly off everyday, and you can watch roofs across the street with their shingles flapping in the wind. Crazy wind!! Has it been windy up there??
Are you using leafs yet? (wink)

  3. Pip, "become one with the mud" was my mantra yesterday as I splashed through ice cold puddles of mud with moose droppings in them! Thanks for making me smile and repeat my spring mantra!

Shelley Babes, we had the wind too, unbelievable. Very calm here today. Paul had to go to the eye doctor (King - excellent!) in IF on Friday. I gave him the grocery list and he shopped for us. Yahoo! We should take the boys to the museum or hot springs and set a date. K?
