Blog changes

Thanks to everyone who followed Training Because I Can! over the last nine years. This blog started with Addison's Disease, hypothyroidism and a crazy idea of doing an Ironman distance triathlon. My life has changed and so has this blog. I am using this blog strictly for Addison's Support topics from here on out. I hope to continue providing people with hints for living life well with adrenal insufficiency.

An adventure all by myself

I finally figured out the only reason to be alive is to enjoy it.
- Rita Mae Brown

On this first run in the snow, I really missed Allison's company. We mostly ran together during the winter because she was often gone for large parts of the summer. Today, at the last minute, I decided to run on the trail up and over the hill instead of taking the road. Heck, the snow didn't look too bad. Well, it was 6-8 inches deep and I wasn't wearing gators or the right shoes! My Drymax socks worked out great, they kept my feet warm and dry for much longer than my other socks. I stayed pretty warm from the running. I saw moose tracks, bear tracks and elk tracks. It was a fun run. Yes, I had my injection kit with me. A couple more pictures...

I wish Colorado was a little closer. I need a running partner, too. You know the Uncle Kracker song about not being crazy, just a little unwell. I love the line about staring at the wall and talking to the shadows. I do wish that I had a friend to run with especially on those long runs.

You are so much better than I am about carrying your injection kit. Do you pop pills (HC) on your runs lasting more than 2 hours? I am thinking that maybe I need to experiment a little.

Run on, my friend.
