Blog changes

Thanks to everyone who followed Training Because I Can! over the last nine years. This blog started with Addison's Disease, hypothyroidism and a crazy idea of doing an Ironman distance triathlon. My life has changed and so has this blog. I am using this blog strictly for Addison's Support topics from here on out. I hope to continue providing people with hints for living life well with adrenal insufficiency.

Gluten mutiny: Undiagnosed celiac disease causing untold bowel distress

More good info, Dusty. I was struggling with recurrent diarrhea, which was progressively worsening over a year or two, and my GP and I discussed the possibility of Celiac. She had me get the biopsy done, and in my case it turned up negative. My symptoms actually worsened after the procedure. I had read some of the information on probiotics on your site. I've been taking them for a couple months now. I am happy to say it has solved my problem! So there you go. Keep doing what your doing. Please!

Damn Michael, you're making my day! You're awesome! I'm glad to help :)

Although I don't think I have celiac, I eliminated gluten and my digestion is so much better. I'm not recommending it for everyone but it's worth a try.

Biopsy sounds painful! Ouch!

While I've never been officially diagnosed, this is one of the reasons I cut out wheat. Even for those without celiac disease, wheat and gluten can be harmful to the digestive system simply because it is so processed now. It's a pity really. And I miss cake :(

Meg, come on over! I can make an acceptable gluten free cake with great icing. I've got a recipe for delicious brownies. Want it??

:) Dusty

:o Yes please!! Actually, send me any gluten-free recipes you have! It's often such a drag finding you and interesting recipes only to try them out and find them lacking.

Dusty, I'd LOVE to have your cake and brownie recipes! I'm a cookie lover, so I've made a lot of macaroons, meringue-type cookies, and a lot of gluten-free peanut butter cookies and variations thereon - chocolate PB, choc chip PB, etc. I'd be happy to share those recipes with anyone who wants 'em.

Brownie recipe for Meg and Heather: http://addisonssupport.blogspot.com/2009/05/brownies-that-are-gluten-free-dairy.html

Heather, do you have a plain old chocolate chip recipe? I'd love that. you can email it to me (contact@addisonssupport.com) or post it here. I use Pam's cake mixes for cake. I'm too lazy to figure out a good recipe myself!

Thanks!!
