Blog changes

Thanks to everyone who followed Training Because I Can! over the last nine years. This blog started with Addison's Disease, hypothyroidism and a crazy idea of doing an Ironman distance triathlon. My life has changed and so has this blog. I am using this blog strictly for Addison's Support topics from here on out. I hope to continue providing people with hints for living life well with adrenal insufficiency.

5k and other stuff

Oh Honey, no
This is not a flattering outfit for anyone, I'm not sure why this lady choose this particular outfit for the Dick Batchelor 5K Fun Run at Disney
This is not me.

Paul and I unexpectedly went to Orlando this weekend, visited his family and did a 5K in Disney.  I think this was my first 5k ever!  Paul, his aunt and I all stuck together.  Paul's aunt actually requested that I take the picture above. Fun pictures below.

Sunrise over Disney

Paul's Aunt, Paul and me at the race start

Paul said people were wearing costumes.  They weren't.  I was the only one unless the woman in the first picture was wearing a costume.

Turtles at Blue Springs State Park

Manatees!

Manatee with a tracking device

Airstream Trailer art.  This picture doesn't do it justice but it's the best I could do.

I couldn't help myself.  Paul watched me take this picture and said, "You know it's peh-peh NOT PEE PEE".  I can call it Pee Pee taxi if I want

From a run a few weeks ago.  Spider web, run, canal reflection.  Beautiful.

Oh dear. I look at that woman's outfit and the g-string and all I can think is chaffing!

In other news, you'd be proud of my race dosage strategy. Remembering that I'm still on only 15mg of Hydro per day, I took an extra 5mg the day before, 10mg on waking on race day, another 10mg just before race start, 5mg after the race and 5mg that night. The next day I took an extra 5mg in the morning. Guess what? I felt great! Such a difference from my first marathon (which amounted to the same time on my feet) when I felt horrendous that night and the day afterwards.

Any time anyone at work comments on how crazy I am to be running 26k of trails I mention you. You're an inspiration, but now I have hope that I am capable of the kind of distances you put in as well!

Oh, and I will put a race report up some time this week, and some photos from the big Europe trip. Blogging has officially recommenced!

PT, no kidding about the eeeewww! I don't know if it was intentional or not. Maybe she thought she was putting on tights and it was last night's nylons? I don't know!!

Pip,

Well done with the meds (FINALLY!) and the running. I'm looking forward to your race report.

It is my belief that the woman was tripped up over the words "dick" and "batchelor".

In any event, I'm jealous - you got to see Hogwarts...among other things.
