Thanks to everyone who followed Training Because I Can! over the last nine years. This blog started with Addison's Disease, hypothyroidism and a crazy idea of doing an Ironman distance triathlon. My life has changed and so has this blog. I am using this blog strictly for Addison's Support topics from here on out. I hope to continue providing people with hints for living life well with adrenal insufficiency.

This is it! Rocky Raccoon 100 miler!

Tomorrow morning at no o'clock Paul and I are headed off to Texas for Rocky Raccoon 100 miler.  Paul's my pacer and he'll be walking/running with me anytime after the 60 mile mark.  He's in charge of making sure I've got everything I need when I pass him at the main aid station.  I'll be meeting up with Lora who will be doing the 50.

Unfortunately, I've got a cold.  It's not too bad but it's not too good.  I need get everything together for the flight (carry on only) and sleep well tonight and everything will be ok!

Here's my Addison's med/food/hydration plan.  Thanks to Wanda, Linda and Pip for looking it over!
·        Tuesday:  Increased my HC from 25 mg to 30 mg, florinef from .025 to .05.  Increased salt intake and probiotics intake.
·        Wednesday:  HC 35 mg, Florinef .05, increased salt and probiotics
·        Thursday: HC 40 mg, Florinef .1, increased salt and probiotics
·        Friday (lots of driving and flying):  HC 45 mg, Florinef .1, increased salt and probiotics
·        Saturday, race day.  24 to 30 hours of exertion, 75* during the day and 55* at night.
o   Wake at 4:30 am take .1 florinef and 20 mg HC
o   5:45 am before race start 8 oz Gatorade (200 mg salt), powerbar gel (200 mg salt), 10 mg HC
o   5 mg of HC every hour, 1000 mg of salt from various sources/ hour, .05 Florinef at various times throughout the day totaling .25 for the day, 200 calories an hour
o   Post race Sunday:  Play the HC by ear
 Monday:  50 mg HC, .1 florinef.  Increased salt intake and probiotics intake.  Double tyrosine to prevent migraine. 
Tuesday:  40 mg HC, .05 florinef.  Increased salt intake and probiotics intake.  Double tyrosine to prevent migraine. 
Wednesday: 30 mg HC, .05 florinef.  Increased salt intake and probiotics intake.  Double tyrosine to prevent migraine. 
Thursday:  25 mg HC, .025.  Increased salt intake and probiotics intake.  Double tyrosine to prevent migraine.  

Well, I'm off to the races.  Please send positive energy my way on Saturday and Sunday.  I will try to take some pictures while I'm running and walking.  Many of you will be on my mind during this race!
