Blog changes

Thanks to everyone who followed Training Because I Can! over the last nine years. This blog started with Addison's Disease, hypothyroidism and a crazy idea of doing an Ironman distance triathlon. My life has changed and so has this blog. I am using this blog strictly for Addison's Support topics from here on out. I hope to continue providing people with hints for living life well with adrenal insufficiency.

Mixed content

A real license plate. Wish it were mine, it's pretty much my motto!

OK, lots going on. I'll sort by content, headings will be in bold so you know what you can skip.

Swan Crest 100 I'm off to do another 100 mile race.

Are you interested in me Tweeting this race? If so, email me and let me know, no need to get wordy or anything, just let me know you're interested. I would like to have 10 interested parties to make the effort.

It's a highly self sufficient race. I enjoy self sufficiency so this is right up my alley. Unlike others who are fast, light and relying on aid stations to get what they need, being self sufficient will keep me at my usual pace with my usual pack! I don't usually use much aid. The race starts Friday, July 29th at 7 am and the cutoff is on Saturday, July 30, at 7 pm. I feel ready and excited. I have a pacer (Thanks Elise!) who is a local, generous and enthusiastic. BTW I am not good at 100s or running in general. My batting average is .250. I'm slow and not even steady. I enjoy the hell out of it and hope to succeed.

As far as Addison's goes, I will be using little if any florinef the day of the race because my hydrocortisone intake (and mineralcorticoid in HC) will be high. I will supplement salt when I start getting orthostatic hypotension. I hope to avoid the nausea that's been impeding me!!

Overall All is good. Busy and good. I'm sad though because my cute friend Meara is moving. I will miss her badly. She runs with me, laughs with me and makes me smile.

Pictures from a fantastic weekend in Montana for a gigantic birthday party and from a hike up to Table Mountain this weekend.

Only in Montana, dogs at parties drink out of the soda holder

A plethora of cakes!

This is how people party in Montana

Some of my favorite people

Kind of perverted, hanging in the bar

Seriously, this guy was riding a 4 wheeler away from the bar. He was parked in a parking space!!

A Montana mandate for my running speed

A real sign in a neighborhood in Montana

Como Lake, site of a great run

Paul and I on Table Mountain, Grand Teton between the goofballs

I was excited to be on Table. Probably the first time I've been up there without another party

Paul making the final approach with Death Canyon Shelf in the background

Yes, please do tweet your race! I'm glad you're doing another, and I think your approach to the Fludro sounds extremely sensible.

I love that photo of you doing a handstand. That's something I've always wanted to do myself!
