Blog changes

Thanks to everyone who followed Training Because I Can! over the last nine years. This blog started with Addison's Disease, hypothyroidism and a crazy idea of doing an Ironman distance triathlon. My life has changed and so has this blog. I am using this blog strictly for Addison's Support topics from here on out. I hope to continue providing people with hints for living life well with adrenal insufficiency.

MDS Day 3, 38k of trundling and bumbling

Hello again - Our friend Dave (the husband of the Allison mentioned in Dusty's message) was diligent and lucky enough to catch Dusty coming over the finish line of today's stage. He graciously captured a few screen shots and sent them to me. Those of you that have seen Dusty finish a race before know that she always does a cartwheel over the finish line. Dave just missed getting a shot of the actual cartwheel, but in the first picture he did get, you can see her prepping for it. Two of the screen shots are below and then Dusty's note for the day.

Another beautiful day! It got warm today but the wind was blowing so it was bearable. I ran well today and actually ran quite a bit. My stomach stayed good. We started the day running through a village. Some children grabbed my hands and started running with me! It was like something out of a movie. There's a unbelievable amount of sand and dunes here. It's more beautiful than I can describe. This race is organized incredibly well. There are photographers and helicopters everywhere, making back of the pack people like me feel like an absolute Super Star (supasta for Allison). I feel very good, not too sore and have a good appetite. Tomorrow is 88k or 82k or something that equals 53 miles. I anticipate it taking me about 20 hours.

Thanks for the emails!!!!!! I nearly cried when they finally brought them this morning!!

Paul, I don't seem to be able to send Dusty an email via that link. Can you let her know she's blowing me away and that she's an inspiration? I did a 14k trail run on Sunday and was thinking of her as I did it. I've always been intrigued by MDS and Dusty's making me realise that an Addisonian can really deal with the heat and get on with it. I'm so glad her stomach's behaving as well. Go Dusty!!!

I am having the same problem with sending e=mails. Maybe our secirity system is blocking it or some thing. I am thinking of you, Dusty! Run on...

Pip, Linda, are you using the direct link that I provided or what Dusty provided with the XiTi icon? That XiTi thing does not work. I don't think Dusty knew how the emailing would work before she left. If you go to the link that I posted and scroll down, there is a spot to enter the competitor name and your email note at the bottom of the page. Here is the link -

Linda, Pip, you can also go to the MDS website and WRITE TO A COMPETITOR is on the home page. Click 'more' and this will bring to to the same page where you write the email. Regardless, I will pass along your comments in my own email to her, but I think she would love to hear from you directly if you can get it to work.
